I am located in Austin, Texas and grew up doing hunter shows. About 17 years ago, I discovered the joys of horse trials and then started doing jumper shows also. About 12 years ago, I started buying slow race horses, Thoroughbreds and Quarter Horses, off the track and training them to jump. I then would sell them into any one of the three markets above. During that time I have successfully bought, trained, and sold 18 horses. I select my prospects based on brain first and then conformation.
I use "natural horsemanship" methods to give my horses great ground manners and a pleasant start to their new job. All of my horses know how to open gates, be mounted from a fence, walk over tarps, back through poles, side pass, and stand tied to a trailer most of the day at shows. They are taken on trail rides over varying terrain, started showing at hunter shows, schooled over cross country courses, and then taken to schooling horse trials. I expect my horses to be able to be competitive at shows as well as having the brain to be a lesson horse and packing a semi-beginner around. At this point, I consider them ready for a new home.
Currently I have one horses ready for sale, My Guy . I have recently purchased a 3 year old TB that never made it to the track. His web page will be coming soon.
